State Agencies and Local Residents Collaborate to Safeguard Lory State Park, Visitors and Neighbors and Restore Forest Health - In Larimer County, Colorado State Parks and the Colorado State Forest Service are partnering on a forest management plan to thin the dense forests in remote areas of Lory State Park. Bordering landowners graciously gave permission for the contractor to use their private roads to reach the, otherwise, inaccessible areas. Without this neighborly gesture, fuels treatments would have been extremely difficult to complete. The project will help reduce wildfire risk in the park and alleviate the spread of fire to or from nearby residential properties. (pdf 409 K)
